When COVID-19 struck in March, I was busy in my home office working on new products. As the the village and the world went into sleep-mode, I figured the moment had come to open up a small store on my own. I found a good, little space in the village Tvedestrand, where I grew up, about ten minutes from Kilsund. Back in Bergen I worked with others in a shop, this was useful experience, but now I finally had the opportunity to do it my way. I don´t have to compromise on the aestetics, and I can make the sort of light, airy coastal vibe that I love. I want to give people the opportunity to decorate with items that are ingenious to Norway, so I always have a few vintage items of Norwegian origin in stock. I carry wooden trays, boxes and crates made locally from reclaimed barn siding and floorboards. These are very functional and well suited for the changing weather, they can also be used outside on a terrace or a pier. I design and make textile items myself, like towels and toss pillows, this gives my customers items that are not found anywhere else. I bring in selected design from abroad, like Portuguese glass and handmade glass lamps from France. This isa summer pop-up, and there will be some changes in the fall, but my plan is to eventually set up a web shop, making this available to everybody, also people who don’t have the opportunity to visit lovely Tvedestrand. The store has been open for a few weeks now, and I am so happy and grateful for the warm welcome I have recieved! July is coming, and I am really looking forward to it, welcome visitors to DesignSalongShop!
